On Friday 14 June 2019, there will be a Women Strike in Switzerland (https://frauenstreik2019.ch/).
The UNIL/EPFL collective for the Women Strike invites all members of the UNIL and EPFL community to join, support and take part in the demonstration, that will also be happening on campus. The direction allowed all collaborators to take part in the mobilisation on the UNIL campus. It will start at 11am at Amphimax with a reading of the manifest, a pot-luck buffet and the preparation of banners for the evening procession, among others. In any case, the time 15h24 will be observed, as it represents the moment when women are no longer remunerated in comparison to men for a full-time job.
As a reminder, on 14th June 1981, gender equality was included in the Swiss Constitution for the first time. Ten years later, a women strike took place, with around 500’000 women across Switzerland uniting to demand substantial improvement in regards to gender equality. As we are still waiting for this application, women wish to reinforce their demand and call all members of the community to join on 14th June 2019.
